Designing FIBC Bulk Bags | Jumbo Bags for own usage

We are all well-aware that FIBC bags provide the flexibility of being customizable. Since they play a major role in packaging, shipping and supply segments of businesses, it is essential that the selection of bags prior to their purchase is done with extra care. These bulk bags determine not just quality maintenance of the goods being carried but also the safety of the workers handling them.

Follow the below steps to design your own FIBC Big Bag suited to your requirements.

1.Get the size right

The size is primarily determined by the industry the bag is meant for. Different bags have varied bulk densities which is the space that they consume. The ideal way to go about it is to first figure out the quantity of product that fits into 1 cubic metre of the bag space to ultimately determine the space required for the final amount of product.

2.Select the fabric type and the load

The fabric used in the making of the bag has several types. This classification is done because the type of products that are carried in bulk bags. Check the types of making material below to select the one that suits your product the best:

Type A – Standard bags but not advised for combustible products

Type B – Bags with a thin layer of coating provided to avoid catching sparks

Type C – Safe for flammable products

Type D – Made with antistatic fabric, eliminated the need to ground the bag during

filling or transportation

3.Determine the type of usage

The type of usage refers to how the filling of the bags is processed. This depends on a lot of factors from how the bag will be hooked to the machine to the size of the spout.

The types of spouts are as below:

Standard fill spout

Cone top with fill spout

Duffel top

Open top

Once the top is decided, we move on to the next step which determines how the bag will be emptied. Bottom designs of bulk bags are as follows:

Spout bottom

Flat bottom

Tie-open bottom

4.Choose the coating and material

Once the size and type is fixed; the next step is to see whether or not the bag requires any coating. Uncoated material allows air and moisture to pass through to the product but in case of a perishable product that might be affected by moisture, it is advisable to get a coated bulk bag.

In case you want to lock the moisture inside the bag, the recommended method is to get a liner inside the bag.

The aforementioned being the most important few, there are several other features that go into the making of an FIBC bag. These include colour, loops, pouches, logo printing and more. We suggest getting in touch with an FIBC representative or contact your manufacturer to get the most appropriate and well-suited designs for your bag.
